High Water Lake Cleanup

The Corps of Engineers needs your help!  The Norfork River and Lake Norfork have recently experienced unprecedented flooding.  As a result, there is an extraordinary amount of debris in the lake, making it not only unsightly, but also unsafe for boating and swimming.  Memorial Day is quickly approaching, and many of us will want to get out and enjoy the natural beauty of the lake.  For that reason, the Corps of Engineers is sponsoring a lake-wide clean up day on Saturday, May 20th, from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm.
The Corps is asking folks to bring their boats, work gloves and whatever else they might need, and head out to Lake Norfork for a day of beauty!  Any man-made debris (including lumber) may be dropped off at any Corps of Engineers park.  Please place trash near boat ramps or roadways in the parks, but please don’t block ramps or roads.  Large items may be towed to areas adjacent to park boat ramps and placed on the shoreline where Corps personnel will remove and dispose of them.  Trash bags will be available at all Norfork Lake Marinas.   If you need assistance with large items or other issues while on the lake the day of the cleanup, please call 870-425-2700, ext. 1400.
The Corps of Engineers will attempt to return any identifiable personal items to the rightful owner.  As always, safety is paramount.  Please wear your lifejacket and use extreme caution when operating on the lake.  Event will take place rain or shine, unless conditions on the lake are unsafe due to weather.
Please contact Ranger Elizabeth Anderson,, if you have questions or need more information.
